EXPERIENCE

As founder and managing partner of ACM Capital Partners and an internationally recognized turnaround expert, James F. Martin has created and restored more than $800 million in value to private companies. In addition, Martin has raised a half billion dollars in capital and bought and sold companies in excess of $250 million. For more than 21 years, Mr. Martin has consistently reorganized and restructured operationally and financially stressed companies during some of the most difficult times in our economic history. Mr. Martin’s record includes:

In the mid-nineties, Martin served as President and Chief Financial Officer for a master U.S. fast food franchisee in Eastern Europe. During that time, he successfully resuscitated two failed franchises and tripled the units (and sales) in Eastern Europe, which he later sold to a competitor. In the process, Martin raised $50 million in the region, which was reinvested locally over a seven-year period.

As Chief Financial Officer for a $260 million security and safe integrator in the Midwest, he tackled a corporate-wide Y2K-software failure and helped to reorganize the financially-stressed company which was ultimately sold.

In the mid to late 2000s, Martin served as President and CFO at Avborne, Inc., a Miami-based aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility. The company faced $123 million of debt in default following the 9/11 attacks and subsequent economic downturn. Over a six-year period, Martin led two divisions back from the brink of bankruptcy to sustained profitability, successfully returning $138 million of gross proceeds to the company’s owners and in the process adding 350 new jobs to the local economy.

Today, Martin serves his extensive ACM clients in various capacities including interim CEO positions, board seats, financial advisory, strategic renewal, mergers and acquisitions as well as synergistic opportunities. Included in this body of work, Martin completed a successful $38 million debt restructuring for a tier-two automotive supplier with plants on three continents. Despite the worst economic downturn in over half a century, this supplier is currently generating positive cash flow and is positioned to participate in its industry’s rebound. Martin recently completed the restructuring of a $200 million last mile trucking concern, which included a $24 million recapitalization of its balance sheet and the restoration of the company to positive cash flow. Martin has successfully stepped in as the interim CEO of four middle market companies in the previous two years.

In addition to his success in corporate turnaround, Martin’s track record includes strategic renewal, organizational reform, debt restructuring and raising capital. Martin is also well versed in the world of bankruptcy, successfully guiding companies through Chapter 11 filings and their eventual sale. He has also served as the court appointed receiver for operating companies and has been the assignee for Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors (ABC) assignments.
